So week two is drawing to a close, days wise, but for me, I’m far behind. Two things happened this week. My beloved Uncle Eldon, who is second to my Grandparents to me, got really, really sick. So sick that we, the family, were told to expect that he was in his last days, or maybe hours. I cried a lot, even though he has had a spectacular life and we all love him, it was hard to think of saying goodbye. I didn’t work out on Monday. Tuesday I waited for news all day long. I was utterly exhausted. I couldn’t move because everything felt so heavy. I pulled a muscle in my neck from sleeping so tense and my back hurt. A lot. I did a bit of my work out, but I did not complete it.
By Wednesday I started to feel better. I did the rest of my day 2 workout in the morning and I got the wonderful news that Eldon had beaten the odds, yet again, and was making a nearly unforeseen recovery. Working out was starting to make me feel a little badass so I dyed my hair again, after months of just letting it go (and watching the grey take over everything). It took at least five years off my face and I straightened my shoulders and started to pick myself up from the funk I had gotten into.
Yes, I got really behind this week. But, I’m making up for lost time. Because this plan is really good for me. Getting myself back into shape is good for me. Remembering that I am worth spending time on is good for me. I want to thank my cousin Chris for being a part of that. And for letting me get in on this program as he works on getting it out to the world.
I’m looking forward to crushing week three next week, after, of course, I finish catching up on week two.
And I’m loving that my writing is still going well, that my backyard garden has been planted and that this summer is going to be spent in my own backyard oasis, complete with a great party on July 25th.
Next week is the hospital foundation launch and we will be there to speak, to hug that amazing ER staff once more and to support an amazing cause. Life is not so bad. It’s not so bad at all.
