I’m full of the feels today, so I want to talk about poetry and what it is to me. Because it is so much more than words on a page. Here are my favourite bits of poetry.
When snow fall in fat flakes that hover mid air before landing. Especially on a dark, crisp night.
When rain falls while you’re on a walk through the woods on a warm June day.
A breeze catching the tops of the trees as you sit by a campfire in twilight.
Catching the eye of your loved one and holding it, just holding that gaze.
Watching the laugh lines crinkle around the faces of your dearest friends as you all hang out in their basement.
Walking through a doorway and feeling your loved one’s hand on your lower back.
Slipping quietly into cool water on a hot day.
The sound of waves crashing on the shore.
I could keep going on. Because truly, there is poetry to be found every day, all the time and in the most unexpected places. If only we care to look for it.
