There was no funny saturday again this weekend and for that I apologise. BUT, I had a good reason.
Thursday Shawn flew into Ontario for some meetings and such and rented a car. Friday he spent all day driving from place to place meeting various people for work and Friday evening he picked up our two oldest from the house in T-burg and started the drive home. I spent most of my day saturday with my three youngest, making sure the house was ready, texting my older daughter in french once they passed the Quebec border (to annoy her, which it certainly did) and talking with the kids about how we were going to handle the changes of having our whole family once again under one roof.
The original plan was that the kids and hubs were going to stay Friday night at a hotel on our side of Toronto, which they did. They stopped for the night in Whitby and I can only imagine how happy the kids were for the hot shower, the pool and the hot tub. They all got a good meal and a good night’s sleep and in the morning they were going to drive to this side of Montreal and stop again, coming home on Sunday.
Since they had good clear traffic, they made it past Montreal much earlier than anticipated and since accomodations are limited once you enter New Brunswick, they figured they might as well drive the extra three and a half hours home. So, just after midnight on Saturday night, my whole family was once again under one roof.
It’s been wonderful. A little bit strange to re-get used to, but mainly wonderful to have everyone home safe and sound. I am sure that there will be some adjustments over the next few weeks as we all get used to one another again, especially for my oldest son who has lived on his own for the last year and a bit, but I am confident that we will make it work just fine.
I am, at heart, a momma bird. And I’m happy to have all the babies back in the nest.
Oh, and Greig…yes, Keisha passed me on that hug. Exactly as you asked her to.
Thanks to Greig and Alex, to Kathryn and to all the other folks back in Ontario who gave Liam and especially Keisha a helping hand over the last five weeks. I can’t thank you enough.
