Thankfully, I have my first three original chapters from sharing with my writer’s group, plus some excellent notes from them so I can tighten it up a bit and stop using the same word three times in the first page (yes, I did that). I also have my handwritten notes of chapter breakdowns so I can start transcribing them again and I know where I am with the story.
Life rarely takes you exactly down the path you want it to. Oh sure, sometimes plans work out and things fall into place, but life loves to throw screw balls at us. A wrench in the plans, a hitch in the giddy-up. Little gems that make you stop, look around and take stock of what is the best, new course of action. We’ve all lived through them. An unexpected illness, job loss, move, the end of a relationship, or even something as simple as a conversation that didn’t go the way you wanted it to colouring your day into a different tone from your emotional pallete.
Tonight I start again.
New book, from the old book. The final book in the Fayette series.
And I feel pretty good about it.
