You guys, I am hooked on this movie.
I have now seen it four times and it just gets better every time I see it!
Okay Disney. Sometimes I love you and sometimes I don’t. You lost me for a little while there and then you suckered me right back in again with Wreck it Ralph, so, although I was kind of slow on the uptake, I finally watched Frozen. Yes, I’m 38 years old and my kids are all older than 12 now so we don’t really rush out for the Disney movies anymore, but I’m still a kid at heart. I still love me some princesses. So I watched it.
Holy crap, Disney, you got it right!! It really feels like a musical, not a movie with music in it as many Disney movies do, but better than that THE GIRL IS NOT SAVED BY A BOY!! Oh sure, we have the stupid Hanz showing up early and springing all that ‘I fell in love at first sight and now we’re going to get married’ crap at us right from the get-go (although that song is super-cute, no?) but then Disney takes that mould and smashes it on the ground. It even allows its own characters to question how sane that is! LOVE
Plus it has Idina Menzel singing brilliantly and don’t ask me how many times I’ve listened to Let it Go now, I can’t even count.
This movie is funny, generous, moving. And then it wrecked my heart because the ‘act of true love’? It wasn’t a kiss from the boy that saved her. It was her love for her sister. That’s right, these amazing characters did it for themselves.
Oh sure, there was a kiss at the end but it wasn’t the end all and be all of Anna’s existence.
I’ve seen a lot of movies lately, probably because late November to early January is a GREAT time for great movies, but this one I keep on coming back to. If you haven’t yet seen it, no matter what your age, go and do it right now. You won’t regret it.
Okay….one more time:
