The last week and a half or so, there has been a wicked cold floating through the house. I mean wicked bad. Keisha had it something awful (and she is still getting over it) and Shawn had it so bad he stayed home from work for a day, a HUGE deal if you know Shawn. I ran around getting soup and cold FX and vitamin C and Tylenol for everyone. I really thought that I had managed to scrape by without catching it.
Yesterday my throat and neck were kind of sore, but I let it pass. We did a huge grocery shop, spent three hours in the kitchen with the kids happily making soups and stews and things that we can freeze for easy meals later on, and then my youngest daughter and I made a beautiful dinner together. After dinner the girls and I went down to the rec room in our basement and challenged one another on our karaoke machine. It was an amazing day, to say the least. Everyone smiling and laughing and in a good mood.
Shortly after dinner though, our youngest, Shawn Micheal, announced he wasn’t feeling well, went upstairs and promptly tossed all his cookies in the toilet. He went to bed.
I noticed that as well as the sore throat, my nose was getting kind of stuffy.
It didn’t take more than two hours after that for my nose to go from stuffy, to my face feeling like I had been beaten with a bag of hammers.
This morning everything aches and my face feels swollen, beaten and full. I’m exhausted and miserable and everyone has left for work or school. Except Shawn Mic, of course, who is also lying in bed feeling crappy and crabby.
I foresee a day of Netflix and naps. Probably some pathetic moaning on my part as well.
Hope you all stay healthy.
