In one of those “you have to laugh or else you’ll cry” moments, we discovered that during the torrential rains yesterday that all of the boxes we had put in the garage to keep the house looking nearly empty for showings had gotten wet. So, with an open house looming today, we added to our workload tenfold by repacking a fair portion of our things and, much to the absolute desolation of a few of our kids, throwing out a lot of their stuffies, which had sadly taken the largest hit. Even worse, some amazing anime art done for our daughter Kathryn by her best friend was completely soiled and also had to go. As did her favourite blanket that she’s had since she was a baby. Suddenly, growing up looked absolutely terrible to her. Tears were shed.
However, newly purged once more and this time against our will, we forged on. The house looked wonderful today for the open house. Now, as we sit here tonight perhaps a little lighter on actual “stuff” but no worse for wear, we are able to laugh at the little humble reminders that life dishes out. And so I give you some other people’s epic fails in order that you might remember it’s wonderful to be able to laugh at yourself, but sometimes it feels really, really good to laugh at others.
