There’s that old saying that friends come into your life for a reason or a season. Denver Quin was in my life for a brief season. In high school I knew him and was lucky to be among his friends. We hung out usually in a group, and usually with his twin brother Rafer or his older brother Spencer or both. I spent time with him as he played in his band, at his home and out and about in whatever we got up to as friends.
As happens, after high school we lost touch. Our lives went in separate directions. Although we did not keep in touch, there were moments in my life when I was being nostalgiac when I would remember Denver and his family and smile. So many good memories.
This past Saturday Denver passed away. He was 37 years old.
Today his family lays him to rest.
Denver, I will always remember your amazing smile, your positive outlook, your incredible talent and your wonderful hugs. I will never forget that you were a part of my life, for however brief a moment and I take comfort in the fact that your pain in this life is over and you are at peace.
My thoughts today, as they have been this week, are with your brothers Rafer and Spencer, your parents and all your nieces and nephews. May they remember you in the joyful spirit that I do and may they continue on in peace and love with one another.
You will be missed.
