So, I’m a full-timer now, recently have been promoted at work. Yes, I know I’ve already mentioned it, but I’m really, really proud.
There’s only one big downfall (apart from the getting used to a new schedule thing where my sleep patterns are still ironing themselves out) I don’t have time to write!
Or at least, not like I used to.
Which really sucks, because I have a book to finish. Incidentally, my mom has already read the first part of the book and she loves it. Yes, I just said that my mom likes my work.
Anyway I keep thinking that I’ll have time in the evening, which, to be fair, I do but that time gets taken up with other things. Like, the night before last night for example.
I went upstairs just after seven intending to read for a short while and I fell asleep. AT 7:30!!
I never do that!
But that was it for me, I was down for the count and apart from being woken up sometime around 11 with a reminder that maybe I didn’t want to sleep all night in my clothes, I didn’t get up again until morning.
Then of course there is always stuff going on with the kids or an episode of survivor I want to watch and my time just gets eaten away. I was never much of a night writer before, but now I find it even harder to get into that frame of mind. Which leaves my weekends, although they are often very full as well. Not to mention that now that my daughter has her driver’s license, she wants to spend the weekends with me in the car trying not to white knuckle it with my feet pressed against the floor of the car while she learns right turns and braking.
I guess what I’m saying is that I really need to take a look at how I manage my time, because I really do want to get back to this book. I may even think about planning a writer’s weekend again some time in the near future.
What do you do when your schedule goes through big changes?
