On friday my husband is playing Bruce Ismay, the owner of the White Star line, in a fundraiser which is commemorating the sinking of the Titanic. The fundraiser is “The last night on the Titanic” and it’s going to be held in a historic, and beautifully restored train station in nearby St. Thomas.
He’ll be wearing tails for the first time since our wedding nearly 18 years ago, has grown a mustache (which he HATES and is shaving off the second this thing is done) and it is going to be spectacular! I am going, of course, for support and because well, who wouldn’t want to see their husband in full 1912 regalia? But, since I never do anything like this half-assed, I decided this past Sunday to make myself a gown in the same era fashion.
All I need now is to find some long white gloves and I’m set. Thank goodness it’s almost Halloween and they should be really easy to find.
I will of course post up some pictures of this epic awesomeness after the fact. It will be a nice distraction from all the insanity going on with Chapters over the last few weeks and a nice reminder that sometimes I am more than just a crazy lady trying to hawk books all over the internet.
Sometimes, I am a Grand Lady.
Grin.
Amd what a fine sight you shall be m’lady. Beauty unrivalled even by the opulent vessle in which we shall conduct this voyage. A charm and grace which is truely first class.
I would gladly have stayed aboard this sinking ship and given my life but for a moment longer in your presence.

Okay, you’re makin’ me blush. You’re trying on that tux tonight, right? I mean, just to make sure it fits and stuff.

Well, @shawnreilly? Did she rip your tux?
Ref the mustache….I can relate. My husband grew in a goatee once….HOTNESS factor increase of 10.
But then he shaved it off because it was itchy. Break a leg, Shawn.
Dying to see your elegant dress, Mrs. Reilly.

I can’t wait to post pictures. My daughter Keisha is also going, in another dress I had made a while ago, my friend Alex is going, also in full costume and afterwards we’re all going to meet up with her husband, who will be wearing his tux. This night is going to be epic-ly awesome!!
