When I got the new Jeep (yippee) and my hubs got the deal sealed on his new car (also yippee) he found that he had a plug-in in his for an iPod. Which neither one of us own. But, as little prezzies to ourselves, since, you know, new vehicles are NOT presents, but necessities, we decided to purchase iPod’s and a plug in for me so that we can listen to music we like in the cars when we’re on the road.
I’ve never owned any apple products, even though my sister insists that her Macbook is faaaarrrr superior to my Acer (which it might be, but whatever, I’m not conceding the point) and this purchase was my first foray into personal electronics for sheer entertainment value.
I mean, my phone I need, because it’s a phone and I have gotten stuck on the side of the highway in the rain before, so, emergencies and stuff. My laptop I need because that is where I do all my book writing and blogging and such. I can’t write on a computer that is shared with the kids (perish the thought!) so it is definitely not just for playing on. Though Sims *is* on it, my daughter mostly plays that. I just don’t have the six hours to waste anymore.
So I have my new iPod, brought it home and was promptly frustrated. I had to download iTunes and convert all my non-Apple-friendly music in order to load it up. But, not all the music would convert. Grrrr. It took me two hours to figure it out one night and a further two hours just to pick through the converted stuff and load it onto my new toy.
I have no pictures on it yet, even though the hubs does, but his taste and mine are…different, so I’m not taking any of his, and I have only just begun to look into the world of apps. Yes, I am now in possession of apps. How fancy am I?
My daughter, the 13 year old, was hovering over my shoulder last night watching me scroll through available apps and she kept on getting all twiggy whenever she saw something she knew her friends had. I don’t really need all those weird games, I told her. I downloaded the weather network and a nutrition tracker and then she rolled her eyes, called me old, and left the room. I mean, I have angry birds, but apparently that’s not enough. Everyone has the angry birds…
I’m already enjoying any trip I currently make so much more now that I have a soundtrack to go with it that is all my choices. What a great invention.
Anyway, there really is no other reason for this post other than to say that I am finally catching up with technology, I guess.
But hey, if you know of any super cool free apps that I don’t have but really should, shoot the suggestions my way. I’m still learning and this whole thing is kind of overwhelming as to where to start. 🙂
I really miss cassettes.

I’m bored with my playlist on my mp3 player now. I need more music but don’t want to have to pay for it. I’m cheap.
And as to being a techno-peasant: HA! I’ve been living in a technology vacuum for the last 10+ years. I don’t know what TEVO (?) means.
